2011 Brokenwood ILR Reserve Semillon

ILR is Brokenwood’s flagship Semillon showing concentrated lemon curd, toast and honey notes with superb depth and intensity of flavour supported by a spine of lemony acidity. It is named in honour of managing director-chief winemaker Iain Leslie Riggs.

The grapes are hand harvested, crushed, chilled and pressed immediately. Brokenwood inoculates with neutral yeast for fermentation in inert stainless steel. In typical Hunter style, there is no malolactic fermentation or oak influence. A style capable of long ageing, the ILR is only released after five years of bottle age.
