2005 Bindi Original Pinot Noir

Original Vineyard Pinot Noir is a fragrant, spicy style characterised by "perfume, harmony and elegance", with a sweet-fruited, textured flourish and lovely vinosity. The protected 1.2 hectare Original Vineyard, elevated at around 500 metres, lies on shattered quartz over alluvial silts and topsoils of mostly sandy grey loams over clay. After Burgundian-style vinification, the wine is matured in 25% new and seasoned French oak for 15 to 17 months.
"One of the icons of Macedon. The Chardonnay is top-shelf, the Pinot Noir as remarkable (albeit in a very different idiom) as Bass Phillip, Giaconda or any of the other tiny-production, icon wines. The addition of Heathcote-sourced shiraz under the Pyrette label confirms Bindi as one of the greatest small producers in Australia." - James Halliday.
