The Malterdinger Pinot Noir is the village wine from Weingut Huber in Baden. Fruit comes from vines of up to 25 years of age, with deeper roots, 30 to 35% whole bunch. After harvesting the grapes with a crop round 55 hl per ha, this wine matures for 12 months in three- and four-year-old barriques.

Love a German Pinot, there’s something about them that really appeals to me. Has an earthy/lead pencil thing going on over dark and sour cherry, with a little spice and sap. It’s medium-bodied, vigorous and energetic, with again that lead pencil stuff, and a slaty mineral feel. Perhaps some orange peel on the finish too, and a lick of kitten’s tongue tannin to close. Lovely stuff. You can smash it, or contemplate it, but either way it’s a fine glass of Pinot Noir. - February 2018, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, 93 points
