2014 Voski Zorah Garandmak Voskeat

Both ancient native grape varieties, Voskèak and Garandmak, have been present in Armenia for millennia. Both Varieties are present throughout Armenia’s territory but, the exceptional terroir of Vayotz Dzor , with its high altitudes and elevated daytime temperatures but cool nights, yield distinctively balanced fruit in this region and highlight the full potential of these grapes.
Ancient indigenous varieties, archaeological evidence suggests that both Voskèak and Garandmak, have been present in Armenia for millennia. Voskèat in translation “Golden seed” is considered Queen of Armenia’s grapes. It is a delicate golden-colored grape with small compact, relatively thin-skinned berries and cross-shaped bunches. Garandmak, in translation “Fatty tail”, one of the most popular grapes, is a much hardier variety, greenish-yellow in color, with larger thicker-skinned berries and compact bunches.
Zorik Gharibian, an Armenian based in Italy, worked with Attilio Scienza to find precisely the right location for this exciting project. After three years of research and detailed analysis of every aspect of the region, he finally bought the land in Vayotz Dzor. This is historically known as the most prestigious wine region in Armenia. The intention was to create a wine of the highest international quality. Winemaker Alberto Antonini and viticulturalist Stefano Bartolomei brought a great deal of passion and planning to the project, as well as a profound understanding of how to make it a success.
