2015 Renato Ratti Rocche Del Annunziata Barolo DOCG

The Rocche dell’Annunziata vineyard, located on a steep hillside, is considered to be one of the most important sites in all of Barolo. Pietro Ratti calls the site a Grand Cru of La Morra. The wine is aged in French oak barriques in its first year and is then transferred to large Slavonian oak casks for its second year of maturation.
Deep very dark red colour with black tinged edges and a dark to brick red hue. Showing good intensity the nose offers up dark cherry and subtle red currant scents tinged with perfumed notes of rose petals. Earthy dried herbs, leather and spice are also apparent. Rich dark cherry, ripe red currant and strawberry fruits are framed by a robust tannin structure which is slightly more sedate than the Conca. Outstanding power and concentration with elements of old cedar, earth, dried herbs and spicy tobacco in the background. Chewy finish with bright vibrant acidity and a long savoury aftertaste.
