Established in 1836, Gustave Lorentz is now one of the major family-owned fine wine producers in Alsace. Today, sixth generation family member Georges Lorentz holds the reins of the family business as current custodian. In the future, Georges can count on his three daughters to pursue the family tradition. With these values in mind Georges Lorentz began the transition to organic viticulture in the early 2000s. Their estate owned vineyards became fully certified as organic in 2012. To support the company’s age-old savoir-faire, Georges has recently undertaken an extensive update of the cellar and press rooms. These are now fitted with modern technology and sophisticated infrastructure complementing the original winery components including 25 tuns (~1000L oak barrels) of around 100 year of age that the family maintain with pride.
