2018 Domaine Gerard Duplessis Montmains 1er Cru

3 hectares. Biggest parcel of the Domaine, across 2 parcels both over 80 years old. One parcel on the border between Montmains & Foret and then the second one in Foret ie both straddle the line but he bottles both together as 1er Cru Montmains. Character – Very straight, weight in the mouth. Tension, more intellectual. Lilian’s favourite Cru, typicity of Chablis as he puts it. Notes for vinification and elevage are the same for the other 1er Cru’s, noted under MDT.
“The 2018 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru has an immediate nose featuring white flowers and linseed aromas that are both detailed and focused. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity and plenty of race and vibrancy, although the saline finish requires a little more focus. That might come with bottle age. All in all, a splendid Montmains” – 92 points – Neal Martin
