2021 Produttori Del Barbaresco Langhe Nebbiolo DOC
From Produttori del Barbaresco, a small cooperative in Barbaresco with 52 associate growers. The Nebbiolo of this particular vintage is absolutely stunning This is a young drinking Nebbiolo, only aged for one year in large oak casks to soften the Tannins It is a medium bodied red wine with bright and fresh redcurrant and violets perfumes mixed with some aniseed and eucalypt notes. Fresh on the palate with a bright acidity that will balance the soft tannins.
This wine is produced every year by the Produttori del Barbaresco; it ranges from 10 to 30% of the total production depending on the quality of the vintage (the better the vintage the less that is bottled under the “Nebbiolo” label as it is allocated instead to the Barbaresco).
It is a second label for the Barbaresco and it is made with the grapes from young vines or those vineyards that produced a less intense and concentrated juice.
It still has the quality necessary to be classified as Barbaresco, but the winery declassifies it in order to sell it at a younger age and maintain the Barbaresco quality as high as possible.
The Co-operative Produttori del Barbaresco which was founded in 1958, now boasts 51 members and controls more than 250 acres of premium Nebbiolo vineyards in Barbaresco. Each grape growing family is in full control of their land, growing Nebbiolo grapes with centuries old skill and dedication and if you look extra carefully, each family name is added to the labels of their respective regional wines. Only in the greatest vintages are any of their nine single vineyard wines (Asili, Rabaja, Pora, Montestefano, Ovello, Paje, Montefico, Muncagota and Rio Sordo) produced, and will only be released after four years of aging and classified as Riserva. Two other wines are also produced; a Barbaresco D.O.C.G which is a blend of Nebbiolo harvested from different vineyards, and a much simpler Langhe Nebbiolo which is suited for earlier consumption. The cohesion of their proud past and the tireless dedication of its creators have made Produttori del Barbaresco one of the greatest producers in a stunningly beautiful wine-producing area and it continues to set some of the highest standards of wine-making for any Co-operative in the world.
